How to Install Memory Yourself. Go to www.apple.com/support/manuals/
Click on Desktop if you have an iMac, PM G4, G5 or Mac Pro. Click on Portables if you have an iBook or MacBook laptop.
Find the picture of your Mac and click on it.
Now, don't get scared. This page looks complicated but it's not. Just scroll through the list. Find the Mac in the list that matches yours. Mac's are listed by screen size or processor size and date of manufacture. Click on the one that makes the most sense. If you're still not sure, go to the blue apple on in the upper left hand corner of your menu bar and find About This Mac. You can find your processor speed here. Click on More Info. to launch the Apple System Profiler. Warning! This might be more information than you need and could make your brain explode!
Once you find the guide that goes with your Mac, click on it and it will launch in your browser as a PDF. Go to the table of contents and find Installing memory. Follow the instructions. Warning, if you don't install memory correctly, you can blow up your Mac, so be careful!
