BACK UP YOUR DATA: That is the most important thing you can do to protect yourself. There is no excuse for lost data. Apple's new operating system, Leopard will even do it for you. With Time Machine, all you need is an external hard drive. Data restoration can cost you big bucks! Make sure you burn your data to a CD or DVD and keep copies in a different building or location. A fire or flood could destroy everything! The rule for backing up is that if you created it, it must be in more than one place. You can also back up to an external hard drive or USB Flash drive even if you don't have Leopard. Click on this link for instructions on How to Backup your Mac.
Protect your Computer: Purchase a surge suppressor or universal power supply (UPS). Make sure it includes protection for your modem if, God forbid, you still have dial-up. You must have protection for a high speed connection also. Cable, DSL, or Satellite connections must include coax, USB, or Ethernet protection. You can purchase a surge suppressor anywhere, even at WalMart. APC is the best. Don't let a lightning strike take out your computer! I see many computers burned up every year due to lightning strikes. Clic on the APC link. Follow the instructions and choose what you want to protect. Example: Computer, monitor, printer, router, etc. Then click on Show UPS solution. Click here: APC.
Don't Panic! If you were naughty and don't have a back up there is still hope. First, click on the troubleshooting procedures below and try to get your Mac back into working order. If your drive is wasted and you absolutely must have your data recovered call me for a service call at 269-214-2356. If I can't get the data, then Drive Savers can get it back. Click on the link below and breath a sigh of relief. Just be prepared to open your wallet really wide!
